Sweet and Spicy Cocktails

I have recently developed a taste for spicy cocktails. When I say spicy, I mean the kind of cocktails that burn your lips! Bring on the muddled habaneros! I was trying to think of a new way to bring a kick to my cocktails. It finally came to me. Sweet meets spicy with these delicious peppercorn-infused simple syrups!

If you’re not into spicy cocktails, don’t fret! These are not the kick-in-your-pants, singe-your-lips cocktails that I typically enjoy. They¬†have a delightful little spice that just hits the back of your throat.

1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 Tbsp whole peppercorns
1 Tbsp coarsely crushed peppercorns
Optional:
1 peach, chopped
1 cup raspberries

Directions:
Heat sugar and water over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally until sugar is completely dissolved. Once dissolved, add peppercorns and any additional ingredients. Bring to a boil, then cover and remove from the heat. Let the syrup cool completely, then strain. Store in the fridge in an airtight container.
